Alan J. Zakin serves as Of Counsel to Azzolini & Benedetti, LLC, where he focuses on land use, real estate, government affairs, election law, nonprofit and business organizations, and public-sector matters. Drawing on decades of experience in both legal practice and public affairs, he provides strategic counsel to businesses, nonprofit organizations, governmental entities, and individuals navigating complex regulatory and governmental issues.

 

Throughout his career, Mr. Zakin has represented clients before numerous land use boards and government agencies, as well as the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC). He has extensive experience advising clients on land use, campaign finance and election law matters. He has also successfully represented clients in election-related litigation, including residency challenges and election contests.

 

Mr. Zakin has also represents numerous county and municipal entities, including as Counsel to the Planning Board of Wharton and to the Land Use Board of Hackettstown. Beyond his legal practice, Mr. Zakin is the Principal of Alan Zakin Associates, a public relations and marketing firm specializing in government affairs, community relations, and strategic communications. He has successfully developed and implemented programs for government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and corporate clients.

 

Mr. Zakin earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Richmond and his Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School–Newark. He was admitted to practice law in New Jersey in 1997.

 

Committed to both legal education and public service, Mr. Zakin served as an Adjunct Professor at Baruch College in New York City, where he taught law-related courses to future business professionals.  He currently serves as a Councilman in the Borough of Sea Girt, Monmouth County.
